Basketball Maine Announces Inaugural All-Star Showcase Weekend, Featuring NBA Trainer Drew Hanlen and Return of Maine Class All-Star Game

PORTLAND, ME – Basketball Maine, Maine’s newest basketball organization, announced the launch of their All-Star Showcase Weekend, an invite-only event designed to unite the state’s top high school basketball players before the official season begins.

The organization aims to create a unique platform that celebrates the depth of Maine basketball talent—both boys and girls across all classes and levels. Co-founder Lenny Holmes described the vision simply but powerfully: “We want to bring together Maine’s top basketball talent—boys and girls, all classes, all levels—for one unforgettable weekend of hoops before the high school season begins.”

The weekend is structured to offer both elite skill development and high-profile competitive opportunities.

Saturday: The Showcase – Skills, Competition, and College Exposure

Saturday’s “Showcase” event is focused on providing athletes with exposure and high-level training. The day will begin with a training experience led by Drew Hanlen, one of the NBA’s most respected skill trainers, known for his work with superstars such as Jayson Tatum and Kevin Durant. This session is intended to offer invaluable insight into the finer points of the game for every athlete in attendance.

The afternoon will feature a series of high-intensity Showcase games, providing players a chance to display their skills, teamwork, and competitiveness in front of college evaluators and scouts.

Sunday: The Return of a Maine Tradition

Sunday marks the return of the Maine Class All-Star Games, a beloved preseason tradition organized by Tom Nolette and MBR in the past. These games will feature North vs. South matchups across all Maine classes, ranging from Girls D/S through Boys A. The action starts with the North Girls D/S vs. South Girls D/S showdown and culminates with the North Boys A vs. South Boys A battle, serving as a fitting tribute to Nolette’s enduring spirit for the game.
